What is The Moon about?

Who are our characters?
Who is "Milo"?
A masters student in Anthropology, Milo is a bundle of nerves, unable to speak or convey himself well. Originally from the lowland coast of Scotland he feels out of sorts in the city. Perpetually tense and uncomfortable, his long standing friendship with Sam was a source of solace. However after their friendship strayed into romantic territory and fell apart, he has been really struggling. Lacking in social graces, Milo tries his best to articulate himself to Sam, but is always caught up in his own self consciousness and bitterness. Over the course of the film, he is able to finally speak to Sam about his feelings and attempt to recover his solace.
Who is "Sam"?
A recent graduate and theatre designer, Sam is a humorous and witty person. From the same town as Milo, Sam is secretly very scared by emotional intimacy, finding it an overwhelming pressure. Quick with a funny comment or sarcastic jab, Sam managed to thrive in the social landscape of studentship but is now having to find her feet again in a post- graduate world. As such Milo, and their past history, represents a safety that has been otherwise lacking, leading her to try and befriend him again. However when he confesses, this leads her over the course of the narrative to reconsider and reapproach her past attitudes.
